Mission and Stewardship Committee

POSITION TITLE: MISSION AND STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE

TASK:  The Session, through the Mission and Stewardship Committee, encourages and guides our faith community in the ministry of missions and fiscal responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Guides the church in opportunities for mission support in our community, country and world.

2. Undertakes service projects in the community (i.e., Habitat for Humanity, Crop Walk, FISH, Adopt-A-Family, Community Clean-up, Blanket Sunday, etc.).

3. Provides special offering opportunities in support of our denominational missions: Christmas Joy, One Great Hour of Sharing, Peacemaking, and Pentecost.

4. Supports the missionary efforts of Presbyterian Women:  Birthday Offering and Thank Offering.

5. Oversees fund-raising projects within the church (i.e., Bazaar, Annual Flower Sale, Youth Sales, etc.)

6. Develops an annual budget in conjunction with Session Committees.

7. Provides monthly and annual Treasurer’s reports for Session review.

8. Supervises the work of the church Treasurer, Financial Secretary and money counters.

9. Maintains pledge listing and provides quarterly and annual statements to donating friends and members.

10. Provides for an annual audit of church financial records.

11. Informs church Treasurer of Session actions.

12. Conducts the annual Stewardship Campaign.

13. Provides calendar of events for the upcoming year to the church office by the 15th of November.

 

SUGGESTED MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE:  Includes:  Session member(s), Church Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Deacon, Presbyterian Women and two at-large members.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Mission and Stewardship Committee is directly responsible to the Session for its work.
