Nominating Committee

POSITION TITLE:      NOMINATING COMMITTEE

TASK:  The Nominating Committee will meet annually to select a slate of candidates for ruling Elder, Deacon, Nominating Committee, and the Personnel Committee.  The candidates will be presented to the Congregation for election.  The Committee will meet as necessary to nominate candidates as unanticipated vacancies occur.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Meets in February of each year to develop a slate of candidates for offices indicated below.  Nominees must be members in good standing of Faith Presbyterian Church.

2. Informs the Session of the candidates not later than the second Tuesday in April.

3. Presents the slate of candidates to the Congregation at the annual meeting in April. Candidates will be nominated to fill the following positions:

  (a)   Ruling Elder
  (b)   Deacon
  (c)   Nominating Committee  (four at-large)
  (d)   Personnel Committee  (two at-large)

4. Meets at the call of the Chairperson as needed to fill vacated positions.

MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE:  Church By-Laws sets membership of the Nominating Committee.  The Committee consists of two Elders, one Deacon and four at-large members elected from the Congregation.  A ruling Elder will be assigned by Session to chair the Committee.  Though there are two Elders on this committee, only one must currently be serving on the Session.  (Membership on the Nominating Committee is limited to three consecutive years.  A person may serve again with one year off.)

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Nominating Committee is directly responsible to the Session for its work.
