POSITION DESCRIPTION:

TITLE: Pastor

PURPOSE:  The Faith Presbyterian Church calls a Pastor to serve as administrator of the church’s program and mission.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Pastor is under the authority of the Presbytery of the Miami Valley and serves within the church by vote of the Congregation.  The Congregation exercises its supervisory guidance through the Session and the Personnel Committee of the Session.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as leader of worship providing meaningful sermons; administering the sacraments and involving the congregation in worship and spiritual growth

2. Provide children sermons.

3. Serve as moderator of Session, providing support to committees and congregational meetings as necessary.

4. Provide pastoral care including calling on shut-ins, hospitalized and emergency care to the congregation.

5. Participate in and develop support for Christian educational programs.

6. Welcome and encourage new membership in the church through outreach to the community.

7. Provide administrative leadership and support to the congregation.

8. To be available as a resource person for groups within the Congregation.

9. Provide new member classes and confirmation training.

10. Officiate at baptisms, weddings and funerals.

11. Attend and participate in Presbytery and Ecumenical meetings and functions.

EVALUATION:  Performance evaluation and salary review will be conducted annually by the Personnel Committee and approved by the Congregation.
