Personnel Committee

POSITION TITLE: PERSONNEL COMMITTEE

TASK:  Individuals on the Personnel Committee develop, coordinate and implement personnel policy for employees of the church.  Members of this Committee are also responsible for supporting employees and ensuring their effectiveness in the work of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates personnel policy and practices for paid staff.

2. Recommends salary packages to the Budget Committee.

3. Establishes and annually reviews job descriptions for each position.

4. Holds a face-to-face annual review with paid staff to evaluate performance, to set goals and receive feedback for effective growth of the staff and the church.

5. Recommends (to the Session) personnel policies, including how such responsibilities as employment and separation are accomplished.  Interprets policies and monitors their effectiveness.

6. Implements a plan for equal employment opportunity, developed in consultation with the Presbytery.

7. Provides a readily-available support group for the Pastor, Committee Chairs and all staff members in times of triumph or trouble, in dealing with problems, personal or professional, and in the urgent but often overlooked province of keeping the Pastor and all members of the staff from feeling isolated.

SUGGESTED MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE:  The Session Personnel Committee will be composed of the Clerk of Session and the Chairs of the Administration and Worship Committees and two at-large members elected annually from the Congregation.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Personnel Committee will be responsible to the Session for the completion of their work.
