Spiritual Life and Outreach Committee

POSITION TITLE:   SPIRITUAL LIFE AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE

TASK:  The Session, through the Spiritual Life and Outreach Committee, guides our faith community in evangelism, spiritual growth, fellowship and communications to the Congregation and community.  The committee also supervises and facilitates the ministry of the Deacons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Leads and provides opportunities for members and friends to participate in evangelism; shares the Good News of the Gospel with our community and world.

2. Develops a program of care for members and friends of Faith Presbyterian Church, active and inactive.

3. Acts as a liaison with Presbyterian Women and Presbyterian Men.

4. Facilitates spiritual growth opportunities through retreats, prayer groups, Bible studies, etc.

5. Plans and directs opportunities for fellowship within the Congregation.  This includes the oversight of the annual worship and picnic service, fellowship hour, JAM programs, and church dinners.

6. Is responsible for all church materials used to market Faith Presbyterian Church.  This includes internal communications such as church brochures and the monthly newsletter.  It also includes external communications, such as advertisements or newspaper articles.

7. Mentors the ministry of the Board of Deacons.  The work of the Deacons include:

 a. Time and Talent Surveys
 b. Attendance Roster
 c. Assimilation of new members
 d. Referring potential new members to Pastor
 e. Greeter Program
 f. Visitor Program
 g. Prayer Chain
 h. Helping Hands:  Sick, disabled, grieving
 i. Telephone Tree
 j. List of home/hospital bound
 k. Greeting Card Ministry
 l. Support/Flowers to shut-ins
 m. Newborn Program
 n. Christmas Eve Open House

8. Provides annual budget needs to the Mission and Stewardship Committee for the coming year by October 31.

9. Provides calendar of events for the upcoming year to the church office by the 15th of November.

SUGGESTED MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE:  Includes:  Session member(s), Deacon, Disciple Editor, JAM Coordinator, and two at-large members.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Spiritual Life and Outreach Committee is directly responsible to the Session for its work.
