Worship Committee

POSITION TITLE: WORSHIP COMMITTEE

TASK: Provides for the service of corporate worship.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Works with the Pastor in planning worship and set up for services.

2. Selects materials and obtains worship resources (i.e., candles).

3. Provides means by which worship may be enhanced:  bulletins, worship booklet, sound system, seating arrangement, flowers, ushers, acolytes, paraments and worship leaders.

4. Provides for observance of special days and seasons of the church year and other special services.

5. Secures persons to preach and lead worship when the Pastor is to be absent.

6. Responsible for the orderly administration of the Sacrament of Baptism, working with the minister.

7. Responsible for the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, working with the minister.

8. Oversees the music program of the church for adults and children.  Provides for special worship needs of those who are ill, aged, or handicapped  (i.e., taping of services, etc.)

9. Projects financial needs for worship and music program and reports annually to the Mission and Stewardship Committee (by October 15).

10. Provides events for annual calendar for the upcoming year (by December 15).

11. Provides training for participants in worship services (i.e., acolytes, ushers, etc.)

12. Writes annual report and presents to the Session by January 31 each year.

13. Prepare worship area for special services, (i.e., weddings, funerals, etc.).

 

SUGGESTED MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE:  A total of seven members including:  two Session members, music director, Acolyte Coordinator and three at-large members.

ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Worship Committee is responsible to the Session for its work.
